Match Trivia

-United and Spurs have never met before in a cup final.
-Spurs have failed to beat United in their last 17 encounters.
-Harry Redknapp has become something of a nemesis for Sir Alex Ferguson in cup competitions, knocking United out of the FA Cup while managing Bournemouth, West Ham and, most recently, Portsmouth in 2008.
-The final falls 1 day before Harry’s 62nd birthday. No prizes for guessing what present he would like!
-A goal for either Roman Pavlyuchenko of Spurs or Carlos Tevez of United would make them the leading scorers in this year’s competition (assuming the other doesn’t also score, of course). Both are currently on 6 goals apiece.
-If Spurs successfully defend the trophy they will become only the 3rd team to do so. Forest (twice) and Liverpool (who won 4 in a row) are the only others to have done so to date.

Nelson Rivas = Titus Bramble?

after last night game, i was thinking if Nelson Rivas Lopes is the Serie A's Titus Bramble? Rivas had a horror 1st half last nite and immediately subbed during the half time, i think he was the weakest link of the Inter defence and i almost cried when he was subbed. Meanwhile, enjoy the Titus Bramble video.

New Man Utd Away jersey 09/10

Watch the video below to see an artist’s rendition of what the 09/10 Manchester United away shirt will look like. It’s a tribute to the Manchester United side that won the 1909 FA Cup Final 100 years ago.

The design mockup is a lot more appealing than the original shirt design from 1909 (see above link). But one thing I notice with the design mockup below is that the ‘V’ sign points directly to the sponsor’s name. So much so, in fact, that it makes the sponsor’s name stand out even more as if the whole intention of the design is to point the viewer’s attention to the AIG name (AIG’s sponsorship of Man United is set to expire in May 2010).

Can Torres break the jinx?

"I really don't know why I struggled so many times to score against Real. Maybe I tried too hard because I wanted it so much."

Summary :It's a draw. Great first half performance, should have scored 3 goals(giggs one-on-one, ronaldo's freekick + header). Second half, shaky as Inter push more forward ( Adriano wasted two opportunities) and Giggs should have done better with the attempt. Overall, great performance (esp. carrick and fletcher), dominated over 90 minutes, key players rested and they will be no problem for the next leg. Forza Red Devils.!

Ratings :

Van der Sar - Solid, calm and focus. 6
O' shea - starts at right back, great going forward, nice link up with Ronaldo, solid in defence 7
Ferdinand - Solid. shaky at first but then plays as usual 7
Evans - Steady and calm. Perfect cover forVida . 7
Evra - great going forward, but lose the ball on several occasions 6
Fletcher - Always pressured Inter's midfield and covered the back four 7.5
Carrick - Same as Fletcher, great vision and passings, always fight for the ball. My MOTM 8
Park - Energetic, never stop running .great work rate 6
Ronaldo - dangerous with free kicks, a quiet 2nd half 6.5
Giggs - clever runs, poor decision-making. should have scored on both occasions 7
Berbatov - A quiet game. never looks dangerous 6

Subs
Rooney - cautioned for a foul that never was. 5

Team Ratings - great defensive performance and the midfield pairing of Fletcher and Carrick outclass the Inter's midfield.Inter never look dangerous, depending too much from Zlatan and Adriano. Overall, good result and a great TEAM performance. 7.5

Man Utd Team News

WTF.Evans and O'shea doubtful for San Siro.

"The options are: panic. I think I can play Dimitar (Berbatov) as sweeper," joked Ferguson at his pre-match press
conference. "I hope one of them will make it. O'Shea might, then we have the problem at right-back.
"Obviously we have some injury problems and we won't know until tomorrow for O'Shea. He did a little light session on his own, not with the other players. Jonny Evans wasn't able to train.

"These are the major doubts, but everyone else is fit and travelled."Obviously these are the big concerns with Wes Brown and Gary Neville both injured and Nemanja Vidic suspended. "It's a worrying moment for us, but in the context of our club we've accepted it and got on with it."Ferguson also confirmed United will be trying to win the match following Inter coach Jose Mourinho's claim that the visitors would play for a draw.

With Vidic's suspension and the injuries in the defence department face by the squad, hopefully one of them could be fit to partner Rio. Another breaking news, Rafael also out of the Inter clash (WTF!) and did not travel to Milan with the rest of the squad.
